As we prepare for Worship this Sunday, celebrating our 3rd Graders receiving their Bibles, highlighting our Prayer Ministry and recognizing our service men and women for Veteran’s day,  please take a moment of prayer for those impacted by the recent tragedy  at Fort Hood.   Here is an excerpt from our United Methodist Church’s website at www.UMC.org website

First United Methodist Church in Killeen, Texas, immediately opened its chapels for prayer after a gunman opened fire at nearby Fort Hood Nov. 5, killing more than a dozen people.

The church, where much of the congregation is affiliated with the military, was staying open for prayer the next day, and will host a community worship service on Sunday.

…Throughout the region, United Methodists were offering prayers and counseling… in the aftermath of the shooting at the military post, home to some 70,000 soldiers and their families. …Bishop John Michael Lowry of the Central Texas Annual (regional) Conference is asking Fort Worth-area congregations to take a special time of prayer on Sunday for those affected by the shootings.

Employment Seekers Support Group

Growing unemployment in our area affects more members of our church family every week. If you're facing unemployment please come to the Employment Seekers Support Group which meets every Thursday from 6 PM to 8PM at Parker UMC.  This group offers support and guidance for people facing un- and under- employment, or are in a career transition. Weekly topics include effective resume writing, interview skills and networking. Resource materials, other area networking groups and search tools are available on the Employment Seekers Message Board. Under the 'Groups' tab above, search for the Employment Seekers group and read the messages your find there.  Also, check the Employment Seekers Job Board downstairs for contact information on members of our church family who are seeking work.  For more information about this support group please contact Rev. Prayer - Daily Offices

As I mentioned in the sermon on Feb. 25th, Kathleen Flood has come up with a way to observe the 7 offices of prayer during the day from the Benedictines in a way that is possible when you do not live in a monastery. The purpose of these is to bring us back into contact and conversation with God throughout the day. The Latin name for the office is followed by the times.  Click here for the 7 offices and the times.

You might try this out over Lent. Also you might try the empty chair that I mentioned. Let me know if either helps your prayer life.

Worship Services Times - Communion is served each Sunday at 8am and on the 1st Sunday of the month at 9:30am & 11am

• Our 8:00 am Worship uses a traditional liturgy with traditional hymns and music led by the Good News Choir to help us center our worship experience. Children are encouraged to participate in the Children's Church after the Children's Sermon during this service. 
  
• Our 9:30 am Worship is more informal with the same hymns as the 8:15 and fewer parts of the regular United Methodist liturgy. This worship has a variety of musical styles led by our largest choir, The Chorale.
• Our 11:00 am Worship is a contemporary service experience led by a praise band singing lots of celebration music.
  

In all three services the sermon is based on the same scriptures with a slight variation in style. We hope you will find that one of these three services enhances your sense of God's presence as you worship.
